Climate Report You Won’t See in the British Media

March 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Washington Times has just published a withering report on the lack of scientific rigor in the IPCC’s reports on climate change. You won’t see this in the British media or, mentioned by our politicians.

The World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in 1988 to provide a “comprehensive, objective, scientific, technical and socioeconomic assessment of human-caused climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.” However, several studies cast doubt on the IPCC’s conclusions & methodologies so, in 2006, US Congress requested an independent analysis. A panel of statisticians chaired by Edward J. Wegman, of George Mason University, found significant problems with the methods of statistical analysis used by the researchers and with the IPCC’s peer review process. The IPCC comprises politically appointed scientists, dependent on Government funding for their continuing research.

Remember our own Government told us that there “Is now a clear scientific consensus on climate change”. No there isn’t and never has been. The whole notion of scientific consensus is nonsense since science, thrives on scepticism, conflicting ideas/theories & open debate.
