The care of morbidly obese individuals is becoming a major problem. There is even a professional magazine dedicated to the management of obesity.
An example case is that of Robert Marsden. He is morbidly obese and weighs 41 stones (575 pounds). He lives alone in a council house in Grangemouth, Stirlingshire. His condition means he is unable to move from his bed. His NHS carers are unable to move him or, turn him in his bed. So they have resorted to calling the fire service, who use special lifting equipment to move him. The Fire Service Union don’t believe that fire crews should be involved in this type of activity since, it takes resources away fro real emergencies.
This is just one example of an increasing problem related to extreme, morbidly obese individuals. Of course, there are many reasons for morbid obesity, most of which are associated with lack of psychological well being. Certainly genes are not a cause of morbid obesity.
For the extreme type of condition, described above, individuals reach a stage where they are confined to bed and cannot move without help. They literally need help to feed their habit. So either a partner or, a carer (as in the case of Mr Marsden) has to provide food in enough quantity to sustain extreme morbid obesity. This is tantamount to abuse. When an individual reaches a stage where they cannot personally obtain the food they crave and the state connives to provide it under the guise of NHS “care” then this becomes state abuse. When an individual reaches the stage where they are unable to move I just cannot understand why the NHS continues to support the individual’s habit. Providing care & food is a necessary response but, not food in quantities which maintain the status quo.
Perhaps the law needs changing but, the NHS is genuinely struggling to respond to this problem. Tough love is a reasonable response to this extreme condition.
The picture is of Manuel Uribe of Monterey, Mexico. He is probably the heaviest person in the world & weighs about 1,200 pounds (over 80 stone). He has been bedridden for the past five years & cannot stand on his own.

I seriously want to know why we pay people to keep feeding these obese entities! This isn’t a “glandular problem” or just being “big-boned”– these people are sitting around and eating and eating and spending our tax dollars to do it!
Idea for a new law: If you are so obese you can’t get up to feed yourself, your new diet is vitamin pills, water, and vegitables.
Either that or if you can’t get up to feed yourself because of your own sloth– no food for you.
