Absolutely brilliant picture of a North American eagle trying to take his lunch back to his nest. Apparently the fox and the magpie had been picking on the dead carcass you can see in the picture. No news on whether the eagle completed his task….it seems unlikely that he could fly a live, adult fox back to his nest

Our Labour Government created a £10 million ‘modernisation fund’ for the unions as part of the 2004 Employment Relations Act. The Labour Party has become increasingly reliant on the unions since its introduction. In 2005, 60% of Labour Party funding came from the unions but by the 2Q 2007 (latest period for which data is available) this had risen to almost 75%. The Union Modernisation Fund has provided a convenient route to launder tax payers money via the Modernisation Fund.
The Labour Party has become highly dependent on the unions for its future survival, with the taxpayer contributing, via the Union Modernisation Fund, the majority of Labour Party funding. The graphic above illustrates how this works.
This state of affairs is unhealthy for UK democracy, just as the unions stranglehold on Labour was in the 1970’s.
There are already signs of the unhealthy pressure the unions are now exacting on the public sector. Read more HERE

Is this why schools pay less attention to correct spelling?
Our brain works to decode misspelled written words so that we can still make sense of what has been written.
Mrs Leatherhead, who is very street-wise, says this is all very interesting but, it doesn’t apply to decoding mispronounced, spoken words.
At least that’s what she told our sons when they went through their street, patois, “yoof” phase.
