The lyrics are a poignant tale of loneliness in old age. In an age where familes are geographically dispersed over large distances and increasingly the traditional sense of community is disappearing, it appears that there are many more modern day Eleanor Rigbys. I’ve just watched Gordon Brown being “interviewed” by Andrew Marr on his BBC1 show. I lost count of the number of times our PM said he would take the “difficult decisions”. He said it so many times, that he started to sound as if he found decision making difficult. Rumour has it that he does indeed find decision making difficult…..hence the botched election that never happened.
