Apologies to readers but, this is the second post this week relating to death. I promise not to make a habit of it and it’s not something I have gone searching for!
Children’s bodies are being illegally transported across the country due to a crisis in pathology, experts have said.
There are now currently only 40 qualified paediatric pathologists to cover the whole of England and in unexpected infant deaths a post mortem is now usually required.
The law (Coroner’s Act 1988) only permits the transfer of a body(except in the case of burial or cremation) to an adjacent district. Due to the shortage of pathologists, children’s bodies are having to be illegally transported half way across the country for a post mortem.
The Ministry of Justice is apparently aware of this practice but, has chosen to turn a “blind eye” to the practice.
How many other activities of the State does the Ministry of Justice conveniently turn a “blind eye” to?
